Project Example 01
Automated Fiber Laser Marking System
Metal valves and fittings are automatically marked with a logo as well as production and batch data. The system covers different component geometries in a single line.
Customer requirements
The customer manufactures a wide range of metal valves and fittings that need to be marked both with a logo and individually with a production/batch number.
Depending on the production volume, marking takes place on stand-alone marking stations that are loaded manually. For productivity reasons, assemblies with higher unit volumes must be processed automatically, which calls for an AUTOMATION solution.
Implementation concept
For the different geometries, a sensor-based position detection system was set up that transfers marking information to the laser system in real time.
- The components have different geometries and specific features that determine the position and size of the marking.
- Cameras and other optical sensors are used to detect the actual position of these geometries and pass the information on to the laser systems.
- Based on the transferred production information and sensor signals, the fiber laser system applies the marking.
Machine design
Once all technical details have been clarified, the design of the system is finalized and the system is integrated on site at the customer's facility.
